COVID-19 Croatia Travel Guide - Corona Virus traveling updates

Last month the European Union lifted its internal borders, and as of July 1, allowing travelers from up to 15 other countries, including South Korea, New Zealand and Rwanda, but U.S. citizens are still restricted to reach most European countries.

How to cross Croatian border?

As a tourist, to travel safely to Croatia you will need one of the following:


• Proof of a boat rental, or similar

• Proof of property or boat ownership

• Proof of booking for paid accommodation

• Booking proof on campsites

• Proof of tourist visits paid or organized

Or in case you have a family or some kind of an important event you will need:


• Invitation to a business meeting

• Access to financial institutions in Croatia

• Court hearings

• State graduation

• Care for a family member Funeral or a family member's wedding

If you still need an advice or you have a question whether you are eligible to visit Croatia, it is best to visit an official info page from the Croatian border police, with frequently asked questions and contact numbers and forms to call them or send them a message. Citizens of Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovenia, and Germany are allowed to enter Croatia without any restrictions regarding COVID-19.

Non EU residents

Non-EU Residents, including US residents - must satisfy one of these requirements and are subject to new health conditions published on July 10:


• Proof of property or boat ownership (lease acceptable)

• Attendance of a funeral or wedding (documentation required)

• Invitation to a meeting by a Croatian business

• Paid tourist reservation

As of July 10, 2020, if you arrive in Croatia for tourism or other business reasons or have an economic or personal interest, you may enter Croatia without compulsory self-isolation upon presentation of a negative PCR test (COVID-19 test) not older than 48 hours (starting from the time of taking the swab until arrival at the border crossing);If you don't have a negative test you'll need 14 days of self-isolation. Even if you are not ordered to isolate yourself, you are instructed to stay put, leave your accommodation as low as possible, wear masks and avoid public transport.

Self-isolation can be shortened to seven days if a passenger does a nasal and pharynx swab at her or his expense seven days after entering Croatian territory. You will need to register your address, contact number, and length of your stay in Croatia.

What are the measures?

Currently, Croatia has necessary COVID-19 measures for wearing face coverings:

• Shop staff and customers while in stores

• Drivers, employees in public transport vehicles and passengers in public transport (trams, buses, taxi, Uber…)

• Health care staff and individuals visiting patients, if visits are authorized

• Employees in the hospitality sector who are in contact with guests or who are involved in serving and preparing meals and drinks

• Other persons bound to do so by the Croatian Institute of Public Health special instructions and guidelines
